Take SS at 62. When you do the math you will see it to be the right financial move. Heck they even have the math done for you to look at on their website to show you that it is the wiser decision!
IMHO I would snowbird. I full time and basically it turns out to be nothing more than snow birding anyway. Only dif is paying for CG fees when you head back up north to your original home area for the summer. In hind sight I would have kept my house or sold it and bought a smaller one and used it for the northern trip months.
That way you keep your registration and 'more importantly' all insurances as is. Right now having a pre-exsisting medical problem is not the time to try and get another insurance policy. IMHO don't even think the obama care is going to be of any help financially for you, unless you are indigent!
And doing it this way you also won't have to dip into any of your portfolios until they mature.
Just my
That all makes sense but I we will lose our company paid insurance once I leave the business the health care is my biggest scare.
Sorry saw the amount it costs and skimmed over the paid by company.
Well don't forget you do have the few months of Cobra offered after you leave. Which is when you will have to apply for insurance and you should with same company. It will be easier and more likely to be accepted WHILE you are under the cobra. Do NOT ever wait until the cobra runs out to apply.
When I did this I called the same insurance company I was covered under and asked for a quote based on exactly the same benefits what I was receiving from the company. Of course the quote was double. All I had to do was drop the fringe bennies like eye and dental and that brought in more in line of affordable. Dental and eye are not life threatening and actually I went more often than needed because it WAS covered.
