Westernrvparkowner hit the nail on the head. GS is a marketing company. It puts forth the guise of a club of friends but bottom line it exists to sell you insurance of all sorts and CWs retail products and "services". GS members are the pool in which the marketers swim. The bigger the pool the more value it holds.

I asked if you entered a drawing in a CW store. Nothing more, nothing less. I guess you assumed the rest.

I am going to bite the hand that feeds me here a bit. Good Sam is becoming a dinosaur in marketing. I think it is primarily because the bulk of their target market is the older generations. My non-business related junk mail now consists mainly of junk from AARP and Good Sam. I don't get near the solicitations from banks, credit cards, insurance, casinos etc. that I did back in the 20th century. Those solicitations now come via the internet (pop up ads, sponsored ads, banner ads, junk Email etc.) I believe only the oldsters respond to snail mail in any appreciable percentage.
Many things about Good Sam is pretty much outdated. Good Sam still thinks Rallies are going to be big. The are very proud of their middle aged, overweight white male mascot. Even the name "Good Sam" is pretty much mired in the 1950s. But that is not out of line for their customer base. Heck, RVs still come with cassette tape players. Time shares pretty much fits with that strategy. "Come back to the same 5 parks year after year after year" isn't going to draw the 30 something crowd.
As for opting in or out for mailings etc. Companies as a whole, not just Good Sam, build in numerous traps seeking to get your permission to pummel you with junk. There are always a box to check or a privacy statement you aren't ever going to read that you have to agree to before you can make payment for an item. Just the way it is.

Most here are not trying to call you stupid.

Most of the suggestions shown here are a result of reading the same question, say.... 100 times or more before you joined. It is not new information unfortunately. Been going on a long time.

I don't know if Camping World did or did not give them your contact information. I am curious what convinced you it was Camping World that did?

As RVers we make purchases and do business with many different RV related companies. Any of those companies could be guilty of selling their mailing list.

I would be very unhappy about anyone sharing my phone number but don't care at all about my mailing address.

Bingo, you did in fact give them permission to share your information. You should read the fine print sometimes. No different than a thousand other business/marketing arrangements.
