Camping World Web Needs help!

I just ordered a 2015 Good Sam RV Travel & Savings Guide advertised at $9.95 with free shipping from the Camping World web site. When the order was sent it added $9.00 shipping to the total.

I tried to call Customer Support but the voice mail talks about how they are having trouble with a new system and there is a lot of problems and the wait list is long.

How do I ensure my credit card is not charged for the shipping? Web Reference number: 15415049.

On TV, Marcus talks about how these poorly run businesses need to pay attention to the 3 P's - People, Product, and Processes. I think a look at Processes for Camping World web site is in order.

  • OP here -
To be fair to CW - I did get contacted by therm and they are issuing a ($9.95 refund for the shipping).
I did get the campground guide - so I am a Happy "Senior" Camper!

a year. Every minute the internet site is functioning badly every one and me am everyone jumps through unbelievable hoops to fix it. Down time or error time costs more than just our customers from being mad, it costs a lot of lost revenue very fast. I can't understand CW using this excuse for so long.

As someone responsible for our eComm site too, I also wonder what the heck is going on. It could be that the website accounts for a very small percentage of revenue.

I also wonder if they're doing pulling more of an Amazon - the product isn't in a CW distribution center. Maybe they're working thru Disties or Channels.

All of that would explain - but not excuse - the problems.
  • I`think without newbies buying from Cw they would be in real trouble. It seems like it just keeps getting worst ea week, both sides CW & GS Most oldtimers know where to shop for rigs &suppiles
  • Hello KO,

Thank you for your post. I would like to investigate the $9.00 shipping charge you saw. I have your web id number and will get this to our executive desk for investigation and follow up. Can you send me a private message with your contact information should they need to reach you about a resolution?

Thank you...Rudy, Camping World Response Team.
  • Seems to me they have been fixing this problem for a long time. When bad Glitches happen where I work, they bring the new code out of commission and reinstall the old back. I work for a company that processes over a billion in income and consumer payments a year. Every minute the internet site is functioning badly every one and I me am everyone jumps through unbelievable hoops to fix it. Down time or error time costs more than just our customers from being mad, it costs a lot of lost revenue very fast. I can't understand CW using this excuse for so long. Seems like the list of unhappy customers is getting larger and larger plus all the revenue from the loss of repeat customers. Repeat customers is what keeps my company alive.
  • As a senior - I like to read in a book not have to search on-line while traveling down the road. Their Campground guide is good - not the best - but it satisfies my needs. I ordered it so as to not have to go to a CW store.
  • I always use the Bank's safeguard card system when purchasing anything online.

CW has not been on my list for a couple of years. It hasn't always been that way. Wasted potential and management issues. Not sure where their sense of urgency in fixing customer issues lie. It appears that they have been experiencing problems for quite awhile.

Safeguard allows me to produce a credit card number, to be used only for a specific company, and the amount I want that company to be able to charge on that specific number, which is associated to my main credit card.

So, if the item is $9.99, they can not process a charge for $10. The system generates a credit card number, security code, and date for a specific purchase.

You can contest the additional charge with the CC company.
  • Why would a 'senior' member of this forum order anything from CW?
