Club rules

WE just had a request to have guests with children to one of our outings. Never been brought up before, I guess were just used to the ol folks. What do other clubs do with this?

This is a Good Sam Club. I really don't think most people care one way or another. It was just strange that after 30 plus years of club camping it has never been brought up. I do think it needs to be in our bi laws, but once the door is open or closed things will change.

I am assuming this is a Good Sam Chapter, there is only one Good Sam Club. Your Chapter events are regulated by your Chapter SOP, not Good Sam.

We would welcome families with children at our Chapter events. The old-timers are dying off.
  • Several years ago my brothers and I (5 but only 4 went) decided to do a MAN CAMP with Dad. My sister was NOT welcome...and neither was her husband. It was ONLY for the men in our family. The youngest nephew was 12 yrs old, so we did NOT allow them either, because we had no desire to entertain kids. When he turned 16 yrs old, he and the other nephews then became part of MAN CAMP WEEKEND. One nephew, who lives with a man, took it personal when we said "no" to his other-half. SORRY, but spouses are NOT welcome, even if your "Spouse" happens to be male....get over it. We have never invited our brother-in-law, we will not invite a nephew-in-law. Every person there was born with the same last name (except my step-son)...that is the way we like it.

Set rules, stick by them. That simple.
  • There is nothing wrong with having "Family Clubs" that include children, there are many of them. Join that one if that is what you want.

There is nothing wrong with having "Adult Only Clubs" with no children, guests or not, stick to the rules. Let the Adults enjoy their Club and people need to stop bashing them.

  • Is this a Good Sam group or a private camping group. You might want to discuss it with the other members. Once you change things it's hard going back.

Not sure where you are going with this but many organizations, clubs, churches, etc. are realizing that kids are their future. No kids, no future.
  • Does your club has rules covering the situation?
It sounds like some want to change the rules.
  • No children allowed OR children OK :H

    Your post isn't clear.

No children.....then if you have kids don't go

Children OK.....then if that is a problem for you don't go

Hopefully children are encouraged to go camping.
