Disappointed in roadside assistance

Broke down on I65 in Alabama. Called the roadside assistance number. Gave me an estimate of 30 to 90 minutes. After 15 to 20 minutes receive a call back she lost the information on my vehicle. After another 30 minutes or so I get a call and text with information of who is coming and a time of 80 minutes. A service tech shows up then needs to call two tow trucks. One for truck and another for 5er. After 4 1/2 hours standing on the side of a very busy interstate in the hot sun the wreckers show up to give us relieve.
Talking with the owner of the service company she said Good Sam called her four times before giving them authorization to come help us.
So what is the deal?

  • OK I will concede that maybe it should not be discussed in a public forum, if you will concede that if GS had given the OP the service, he paid for, or responded to an initial query in a meaningful manner there would be no need to post a complaint at all
  • Why does Good Sam always want private messages? This is not the first time I've seen this approach from Good Same. The OP was courteous in his complaint. I'd like to see Good Sam handle situations in an open manner. The Good Sam approach does nothing to build any confidence with me!

I do NOT think a customer service complaint response should be handled on a public forum.

First of all GS is going to ask for personal information regarding membership ID, etc. to look into the situation. A public forum is NOT the place to be exchanging personal info.

THIS link is also posted as a CONTACT on many web sites for correspondence regarding service.

I can see their reason for it. Cuts down on phone calls and needing customer service employees to answer the calls.

What I don't see is 'why' they have this link connected to an open public forum. This link should just go directly to their customer service dept.

GS has posted in the past some members do not want their communication public. If I were a member and they posted something I did not want posted, I would have no confidence at all, but then again, show me the CN or AAA Forums where Members post and they respond?
If the OP wants to, they can come back and post what was done. Most don't come back and respond for whatever reason.

  • At least they came which is not always the case with GSRA. In a free market you have options
  • They were trying to get the price lowered or were calling around to find a lower price
