I filed a GS extended warranty claim, one of the items was our Dometic Convection oven. Dometic and the RV service department agree it is not repairable. Good Sam advised me a new Dometic/Convection oven is 970.00. They would pay only $450.00?? My deductible is $250.00. I was told they would not replace it. I called GS ESP and asked if could just go to Lowes and get a new "other brand unit" which would be GE or Sharp etc. Exact same size and I would replace it myself( approx 500.00). They said no. I don't get it GS would have to pay less if I went that route only around 250.00??? It should not be this hard to replace a microwave? Any help or a review would be appreciated.

No extended service policies cover things that are likely to go bad. They are in the business to make money. Failures cost them money.

You may find there are lots of things it won't cover? One reason I never buy them.

Pretty much the ONLY thing extended service plans cover (most all of them) is themselves and their profits...usually not much for the actual consumer.anyway, good luck with it. Hopefully GS will come through. If they do, please post back with a review.

I don't call this a fair settlement. It is like if I wrecked my new Jaguar XK and they replaced it with a Ford Fiesta and I had to pay for half of it. How is that anything but the insurance company flaking out on you?

I called and spoke to the folks at Good Sam ESP apparently a Dometic Replacement Convection/microwave is one of the most expensive at over $900.00 Good Sam has now agreed to let me purchase another brand for approximately $500.00. I found a GE Profile Convection oven with the same measurements as the Dometic with three venting options.( mine vents out the back) Anyway GS is reimbursing me for the cost of the GE and I will install myself I'm happy.

My plastic kitchen sink is cracking, not covered by warranty. My captains chairs, the "leather is peeling" not covered. heck what is covered?

On my Microwave/Convection oven GoodSam ESP replaced mine. Maybe each case is different.

RV microwaves to the top. So if you are going to put it in a cabinet with no clearance in the back, for it to vent. A home microwave may not work so well.

Went through this last year, ended up buying from camping world, you might check them for price.

The over the stove microwave/convection or microwave ovens have the ability to vent either top, rear or none at least all the ones I have looked at.

Where is your rig being repaired. Sounds you are being overcharged by the repair shop for the microwave oven.
