Extended warranty problems @ camping world

Hi- I am having an issue with the extended warranty program and my Camping World store. I purchased a new fifth wheel and extended warranty from Camping world in 2012. This year (March 2016) I took my RV into the store i purchased it from with about 10 issues thingst hat have built up over time. These issues per the warranty appeared to be covered by the extended warranty. I notified Camping World Service Writer of the extended warranty. They went ahead and performed all the repairs. now that they say it is ready (9 months later...) they are telling me i have to pay for all the repairs (approx 4K) because the Extended Warranty Company will not cover them--- reason--- Camping World never got approval for the repairs. I was told by the service writer that sorry but they cannot help me- I need to pay the bill to get my RV. On top of this now I have called the - Service Manager- Service Writer- Store GM- none will return my call or attempt to work with me to resolve this issue.

After reading all the "complaints" in these forums, I feel Camping world is going out of business very quickly. They have NO customers and are laying off all the salesman, mechanics, and parts rep. I bet they will completely gone in a few months. :h Have you tried to get into one lately? Cannot find a place to park due too customers. Same for service dept. Get a appointment 6 mo. out and then wait 9 mo. to a year before repairs are done. Marcus is shaking in his shoes at the complaints that are aired here. :h

So, you're implying that because CW is so big and has a large customer base and Marcus is so wealthy, that makes bad customer service to be expected and acceptable? I'm not sure that I get your point?

My point is, posters complain on this forum hoping to hurt CW and their business. They may as well save their keystrokes because it is not working. If anything, it is helping CW. So do you get it now? :S

So everyone that has a problem doesn't want their problem fixed?....They just want to shut camping world down? :S

That's the opinion I get from the rants. I bet they could come on the forum and ask to be contacted because they have a "problem" instead of ranting and raving, saying they will never shop at CW again, and then accept the help offered by the team. If I stated I would never shop at CW, I'd be true to my word and reject the help offered. :S

Well, I guess i will speak up as I am the owner of this thread. Everyone is entitled to their opinion (especially on the Internet) but I think you have the wrong perspective. Most people post hoping to get assistance with an issue that cant be resolved by "typical means" i.e. face to face. When a large corporation/ nationwide business doesn't address issue "locally" the next step is to take it to corporate. When Corporate is not responsive you used to have no additional resources to bring about resolution. With social media (forums like this) there is an additional way to get their attention. It now becomes a situation where the world (or those interested) get to see for how a business deals with these issues. I tried to resolve this - locally - via corporate communications - and when none of that brought the slightest amount of attention I brought my issue here. The "rest of the story" as they say can be reviewed by reading this thread.

I respectfully disagree with your view. This thread has almost 3000 views. I seriously doubt that this has not changed a few CW Customer opinions. At a minimum it may have changed a few folk's view of purchasing a service plan from CW or visiting a CW or making a future purchase from CW. It is a time proven fact that businesses that ignore customer dis-satisfaction suffer. The bigger the business the longer it may take - it comes back to bite you. I am looking to purchase a new RV this year. Will I go back to a CW store to shop for an RV? maybe.
Will I go back to Chichester NH CW- No. Will I buy a CW extended warranty? No. Will I purchase all the "necessary RV'ing goodies from CW ? No. I also don't consider myself a loyal CW customer anymore. If you are not interested in their service network there are a lot of other people to buy an RV from. All I wanted was my RV fixed as per my contract- nothing more- and nothing less.

Read my previous post. I have no problem with asking CW Corp. for help with a problem. Only problem I have is with the ranting and raving, which is nothing but trying to hurt CW business. I can appreciate you expecting what you paid for when purchase was made. Cannot understand purchasing another RV after owing 1 previously.
  • if you dont mind my asking what were the repairs your RV needed to have done? sound like a fan was replaced as well??

hope you get this thing back on the road?

Its back on the road - or should I say ready to be - I still need to replace the auxiliary fuel tank switch/ timer assy. (turns on the fuel pump for the outside nozzle)
    Repairs:
2 Maxx-air fans (1 lift motor slipping, 1 fan motor hard starting)
Garage stereo/ DVD player (hard to turn on after a full power off)
    Garage mini-fridge
    GEN Switch (relay sticking)
    Backup Camera
Bedroom Slide Motor left side (Schwintek motor dragging)
(I had to pay for the right side motor replacement as they have to be replaced as a pair and the Insurance doesn't cover that kind of replacement)
Key-less entry- (remote keypad wont program)
  • RV owners who do not have the expertise to handle most repairs themselves are being held hostage by incompetent dealerships and repair facilities. If there is anything to be taken away from this discussion it is practice due diligence. Get everything in writing. Make sure the work orders are complete as to specific repairs and costs. Make sure the repair facility provides notations of warranty approvals on the work order. Make a notation on the work order that any unauthorized work without the approval of the warranty carrier and you will be the repair facility's responsibility. Sometimes people can be too trusting. I for one have the experience and knowledge to be able to effect most repairs short of major structural. Even though I carry an extended warranty on my fifth wheel I would hesitate to submit repairs to just about any rv facility. My experience has been most repairmen are generalists and do not get paid very well. RVs generally have specialized construction and if you don't know what you are doing you can cause more damage. The only reason I have an extended warranty is for emergency repair when away from home base.
