Actually, in the Forum Rules, it does not specifically state anything about closing post due to inactivity. Other than where it talks about flaming other posters (N/A here), Political or Religious Posts (Also N/A here), Sales or advertisement for a business (N/A) the only Statement that can be used freely is the first one. Which Reads:
"We reserve the right to remove any post at any time for any reason"
So frankly, unless there is a time limit posted some other place in the forum rules, they can close, remove, staple, spindle, or mutilate any Post, Thread, Comment, Etc, At Any Time they feel like it. If they REALLY wanted to, they could sit there and close or delete a thread the moment it is entered into the database.
That they don't, leaving the Dear Marcus Forums open for Anyone to Vent (even about their company or subsidiary organizations). This I would say a pretty magnanimous gesture on their part.
Just the other day I read an article where a woman was charged $350.00 for posting a bad review online about a hotel (I think it was a hotel, regardless). She is fighting it to get her money back, But in their rules and regs part of their website, they said that they had the right to charge anyone who posts a bad review $350.00 and seek legal options about the defamation to their company. Thank God they don't do that here.
Speaking of legal options, there is also this little statement that is tucked in the Forum Rules, it reads:
"Posts are not allowed in which a local, state, or federal consumer action board and/or legal counsel is/have been involved. This includes posts related to future, ongoing or past lawsuits"
I have seen this as being not employed on a forum wide basis so far. If you read many of the threads, Especially in the Dear Marcus list of forums, there have been many statements that implied either bringing legal help in or advising a poster to "Get a Lawyer" on a problem they have had (usually with Good Sam or Camping World).
While I do sympathize with the OP about the problems that have occurred, I am pretty sure that this isn't the place to threaten the people who run it.
Just my 2 cents worth...
