"Free" Trial
Where does this company get off signing me up for the roadside assistance program without my permission and then billing me for it?
I have had a Good Sam's card for several years and I get so much junk mail from them I just toss it all. A few days ago I happened to open an envelope that looked different and found "Dear Roadside Assistance Member: We haven't yet received your Good Sam Platinum Roadside Assistance dues payment for the coming year's membership". This sent me ballistic as I pay my bills on time and it looked like some kind of past due notice. I called the number on the bill and the lady told me, oh, we gave you a free 6 month trial membership back in January. Apparently I missed that letter due to ignoring the vast amount of spam I get from the company.
Well, they didn't send me a letter stating "we hope you enjoyed your free trial. If you'd like to continue, please mail a check...etc.". No, they sent me a letter stating they haven't received my payment.
So, here's what Good Sam "accomplished" by that:
* They highly annoyed a long-time customer.
* They made me doubt that they are any longer a reputable company.
* They finally pushed me to the point of demanding I be taken off their mailing list.
* They wasted their "free" trial anyway. I didn't notice it and I've had Coach Net for several years.
