Dec 09, 2013In the 60s and 70s my stepfather was a Good Sam member but he never displayed the logo, he said that if the campground saw the logo when you arrived they would bump the price so as not to loose the 10 percent. He would ask the price for the site and then expect the discount from that. He also would not stay at a KOA, never, because the KOAs would not let him look at the site first before moving on.
He was a dedicated Good Sam member and would help folks out, a real Good Sam he and my mom had at least one short story about them in a Trailer Life magazine from I think 1978. They hit all 50 states in an Airstream pulled by the big Chrysler cars the ones with real chromed steel bumpers. Funny how some thing stay the same.
