Good Sam campground discounts

Why don't any Good Sam campgrounds honor Good Sam discounts?? Same old statement from every camp ground "our advertised price is our discounted price" I don't need a Good Sam membership to get the same price as any RV'r going down the road.

  • Not sure. Actually we just were at 2 campgrounds that are not Good Sam but they gave the discount anyway as soon as I mentioned Good Sam membership. Maybe they would have anyway? I suspect they just build the discount into their regular prices, then make us feel good by giving a "discount". Many many businesses do that; such as, car dealers, motels and many more. I guess we are suckers for getting something at a "reduced" price.

That is quite a generalization from a new member. Have to wonder how many cgs he has actually visited to ask such a question. I have been a member since 1991 and NEVER have heard any cg listed as a GS member say such a thing!!
  • Hello 2kulpt,

Thank you for your inquiry and I'm sorry to hear about this. Yes, anytime a Good Sam Park does not give you the discount, my recommendation is to contact us with the facility information so we can investigate. Please let us know if you need anything else at all. Thank you and have a good weekend!

  • The Good Sam parks we visited, are no longer Good Sam Parks. None of the Myrtle Beach CGs are, and neither is our favorite mountain CG. So we dropped it.
  • I agree, Good Sam needs to know.

I've read that Marcus is focusing more on the Good Sam parks side. In the future, they will be unveiling a competitive licensing program so that parks can rebrand themselves. Not as just an affiliate, but can also use the name like "Good Sam Park at (insert name here)". His view is that people buy RV's and if they have nowhere to go, then we're all screwed (his words).
  • All of them I have stayed at honor the discount. As you can see from my signiture block I use many campgrounds. It is common that on a weekly rate they do not as that is already discounted more than 10% over the daily rate.

Seems to me you need to let Good Sam know if one does not.
  • Interesting isn't it. When I go in they say that's OK you don't need your card. A few do request the card like in Vegas. Usually if you are staying a week you get a better discount anyway. I also found it intesting with PPA. I was in one of their parks in WA. I paid for the night and the price was what PPA said I would pay. (I was checking their prices Vs regular pricing) After paying I mentioned to the girl "Oh by the way if I'm a PPA member I only pay half of that price, right?" She looked kind of sick at that moment. I said that is Ok I'm not a member. Nothing more was said.
