Good Sam Credit Card from Cometity Bank

Having extreme difficulties in dsiputing Two credit card chrges from a campground. Comietity led me to believe I was speaking to a dispute team member. However after three weeks and three supervisors later I was told that no card holders are allowed to speak with the dispite team.
Ater initial dispute had a provisional credit issued that was taken away the same day.
After waiting for a week called credit card back and was told that a letter was sent to my address even though they had been told that I was traveling and not at home.
Begged them to email the letter. They finnally emailed it. Told them it waould take several days to respond because reply had to be sent back by postal service.
Sent reply by certified mail. Called them two days after they recieved my reply. Was told that they closed my dispute because I did not reply.
That I now had to ask to reopen dispute by going online to their secure communication site. That same day I attempted to do that and the system would not send my reply. Finnally two days later the system worked.
I have never had a problem with Good Sam or their roadside assistance.
Please be aware of the credit card not standing behind Good Sam Members.
  • You don't have a problem with Good Sam. The problem is with the bank that issued the card.
  • First problem is Comenity Bank. They "own" a lot of places, Woman Within,My Cash-casino card and a host of others plus their own branded card. Some will have a due date by say the 15th,but the cut off date is the 10th. Pay it in full on the 12th and next month they try to bill you $2.00 "interest".
  • I had an Academy Sports credit card issue by Comenity Bank and had nothing but trouble. Supposed to get a $15 discount on first purchase using their card. Academy would not give me the credit because Comenity didn't put a "code" on the coupon. Another example was a check I sent upon receipt of the bill. Next month, I got their statement and it showed I hadn't paid PLUS $20 late fee plus $5 interest. I hit the roof, called them, and they insisted they hadn't received it.

My wife then paid online (which I don't like). I didn't use the card for about 3 months and got a statement showing they DID receive my original payment. Called them and they would not give me my 'late fee and interest' back.

Horrible lack of service! I cancelled the card!

If Good Sam chooses to work with this credit card company, then it is a problem with Good Sam.

At a minimum it reflects badly on Good Sam, and if Good Sam says they have nothing to do with something with their name on it... then it reflects really badly on them.

You would think that a credit card company dealing with RV'rs would have some understanding of working with people traveling all over the USA.
  • This is what happens when a company like Good Sam picks the credit card issuer that pays them the biggest % of the profits, not the one that will do the best job keeping their customers happy
  • I agree that it is the credit card company. However, I am suprised that Good Sam Itself does nothing about this problem. Maybe they can respone to this.
  • Hmm. You described very strange circumstances of communication with representatives of Good Sam. Now I'll be more vigilant when employees of various companies call me because they may be scammers. But I don't understand why this company didn't immediately send you a letter only by registered mail. After all, a registered letter is the safest way to transfer letters from the company to the recipient. They should have been smarter and not acted childishly. When I signed a contract with these companies to create a credit card https://www.youngandthrifty.ca/best-cash-back-credit-card-in-canada/, I paid attention to how they communicated and who was given access to my money accounts. How did your story end? Tell us if you lost money under those strange circumstances.
  • You don’t always win a credit card dispute. Investigations often only take a few minutes. We had a few over the years, settled by sending a copy of the signed receipt or a copy of the park policies. If they don’t agree with your side of the complaint you are pretty much out of luck because their decision is final. There isn’t an appeals process I was ever made aware of.
