Good Sam Discount

Riverview RV Park at Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri, will only give you the GS discount if you pay by cash/check. Wondering if this is the policy for all/most parks. Due to the fact most pay w cc, and if discounts aren't given using cc, why have the CS membership.

  • Hello RV.Net,

I want to insure everyone has the correct information on the Good Sam Discount policy:

Per the Good Sam Membership Guide: At participating Good Sam RV Parks, Members save 10% on the regular RV site nightly rate. No black-out dates! Good Sam Park discounts do not apply to weekly, monthly, group, or other long-term rates.

If you have any questions, please feel free to call our 24/7 customer service line 1-800-234-3450.

Thank you...Rudy, Good Sam Response Team.

Hello mikejodifin, thank you for bringing this to our attention. All Good Sam Parks should honor the 10% Good Sam discount on the nightly rate posted at the park no matter how the site is paid for. The Good Sam discount doesn’t apply to already discounted rates (such as weekly or monthly deals). We will be in contact with Riverview RV Park to ensure they understand the terms surrounding the Good Sam Discount program.

I would also like to let you know we guaranteed the 10% Good Sam Club discount. To receive the discount, please send in your receipt and all the facts about your visit (date, location, price, reason for not receiving the discount) to:

    Good Sam Member Services
    64 Inverness Dr E
    Englewood, CO 80112

We value your membership and thank you for visiting Good Sam Parks while camping in the US and Canada.

    Happy Travels,

  • We process credit card payment every day for our business. I can tell you that the monthly and transaction fees are considerable. Apparently this business has decided that giving a discount on top of credit card fees is just not worth it. That does not make them a bad business. We see this often in the marine industry. If the park meets all your needs, is clean and pleasant, write a check. What's the big deal? Chuck
  • I have gotten the GS discount when using a credit card. I have also gotten the discount when using a check. There are still campgrounds that do not accept credit cards but will accept a personal check. These are usually the Mom and Pop campgrounds. So do not be so quick to throw out those left over checks. It costs the campground a lot of money to accept credit cards. I have even received the Good Sam discount at a private non-Good Sam campground that only accepted personal checks. They said it was a reward for campers that supported the RVing life by being a Good Sam member.
  • I stay at 20-30 Good Sam parks each year, and have never encountered this. I'd think twice about ever staying there again. Very few people carry a lot of cash on the road, and checks went out with the dial up modem.
  • Good Evening Mikejodifin,

That is not the normal procedure at the majority of RV parks. Only thing that I can think of is if the park is not equipped to take credit card/debit card payments. I have escalated your issue to our parks department for investigation. If you could send me a private message with your contact information, I would like to include that should they have additional questions for you.

Thank you...Rudy, Good Sam Response Team.
  • Have found that at only a few places. Usually its 10% off on daily rate (not weekly or monthly) but not all places no matter how you pay. I've only had the cash only at a few. The ones that bug me are the ones that only give less than 10% off. (like $45 regular rate $42 for Good Sam).
