Not necessarily. I just switched BACK to Good Sam Ins. through GMAC (now National General) because they had lower prices than everyone else. A buddy just left them because his premiums went up.
It seems it's a game where they price competetively to get your business then go up on premiums figuring you're not going to shop around.
GS does push National General (GMAC).
From a GS Insurance Exec "National General does pay higher commissions compared to the other carriers we represent." He also said "NGIC is also the only company that we presently have available for online quoting. If someone requests a quote from our website, they will get a NGIC quote."
So....that tells you right there that they make more money from National General than any other carriers and that they indeed "push" National General. I have the PM from the person that said it.
He also said that National General has more comprehensive coverage and gives the largest discount to GS members. I have to call BS on both of those. At least the last part.
