Good Sam vice Coach Net benefits

I am in the process of renewing my Coach Net road assist.

GS has a great deal at $114.95 for 1 year + you have to be a a Good Sam member for $27 per years total of $141.95.

GS has also 2 years@ $229.90 & 3 years @ $344.85

Coach Net is one year @ $169 minus $10 discount for returning customer Total $159 or 3 years @ $489

Clearly a big difference in price.

When I called Coach Net , I asked if they could give me a better discount since I am a member since 2003 to match GS prices.

The answer was that they were offering more services than GS.

I went to both website and cannot really find any difference.

Does anyone could tell me if "I am missing something"?
  • Coachnet has technicians that work for them that can talk you out of a mechanical jam. GS does not. Coachnet has a staff that understands you can't send a small tow truck to tow a huge Class A, GS apparently does not based on my experience.

Coachnet will dispatch the appropriate tire repair or service truck for your situation. GS did not in my case.

I've used both in tire, tow, and stuck situations and GS screwed up every time, CN did not, always dispatching the appropriate service. CN did screw up once though and sent a tow truck to the wrong side of town even after I gave great location info, so they aren't perfect. But for me, CN beats GS hands down.
  • Have never had any problems with GSRA (you don't have to be a Good Sam Club member to get the Roadside Assistance - not sure where you read that). They've always been able to help me whenever I've called, and I've been a member since 2007, when we switched from CAA. We decided we didn't need all the bells and whistles we were paying extra for with CAA. GSRA is just simple basic roadside assistance, no travel guides, or Disney discounts, or free trip ticks, they just send you a tow truck or whatever when you need it. They do offer some extras, like a concierge service, but we've never really needed more than a battery boost or a tow, so we're not experts on that stuff. The 3 year renewal was our last choice, for about what you quoted.
I got a Coachnet 1 year membership free included with my Winnebago purchase, but since we've been house bound for a while now, we haven't had a chance to use it. Maybe later this summer or fall.
Everyone's experiences are different with the various ERS companies, they all have their pros and cons. You'll get both sides of that fence.

I like Good Sam RA and am considering becoming a member of the Good Sam Club to get one of the RV Plus credit cards. Apparently, it can be used like a fleet card at Pilot/Flying J truck islands for diesel and DEF. We drive a "diesel puller" now so that would eliminate the need to pre-pay at the trucker islands. Others have recommended the RV Plus card, but you have to be a Good Sam Club member to apply. I think I'd like to be able to swipe and pump, instead of pre-paying. My problem is timing, getting a "club" member ship to coincide with my "Roadside Assistance" renewal in a couple of months.

Maybe Ella or one of the other site monitors could help me with that?
  • Thanks everyone for the posts - to clarify, Good Sam Roadside Assistance DOES have a dedicated team of RV technicians plus Mobile Mechanic and Mobile Tire services.

Jim@HiTek - I would like to speak to you regarding your experiences in more detail. Can you send me a PM with your contact info please?

    Thanks in advance.
  • Mr White, could you clarified if you have to be a member of Good Sam Club to keep your GS road assist valid?

Or if I read it below if you are not a member you won't be a priority over a Good Sam Club member

  • Hello #Marc - Thanks for the followup. It is not a requirement to be a member of the Club in order to be a member of Good Sam Roadside Assistance, but I do recommend it.

In addition to all of the great club benefits you receive as a member of the Club, active Good Sam members do get priority answering of calls as you referenced.

Rest assured all members of Good Sam Roadside are serviced in a timely fashion and receive the best coverage and assistance!

    Thanks again for the post.
  • Form reading the many posts here over the years, it seems like the biggest difference is that CN shows up far more often than GS.
  • The reason we went with CN over GS is because (at least at the time) our understanding was that if my truck breaks down CN will tow my truck AND my trailer but GS would not. Not sure if that is still true though.
  • Hello,

I am closing this topic due to lack of activity. Thank you for your time and participating. Please feel free to open a new thread on this topic in the future if you wish.

    Thank you,
