Good Sam's Insurance are crazy

I have been a member of Good Sam's for several years and as of yesterdays ordeal with Good Sam's Insurance i figured i sign onto this forum and find out if anyone else had the experience i had with Good Sam's. Several months ago we traded in our class A for a Travel Trailer when my wife called to change everything over the person she spoke to said when our renewal come up in June the premiums would be cheaper be a Travel Trailer and will be $40 a month.Well we received our new policy yesterday the monthly payment is now $168 and the policy went up $400 are these people nuts.So my wife called them and they are trying to tell us everybody that lives on the east coast their premiums went up do to the storms.Anyone that lives on the East coast did your rates go up as much as ours? We called around yesterday to Insurance Companies and they are all around $300 a year versus $700 a year thru Good Sam's Is this really how they take care of their members

  • The part about GS ins. covering stuff that a normal policy doesn't is pure BS.
Ask you auto ins. agent about this and you'll see.
  • Every time I talked to a representatiave I got a different quote so I asked for it in writing. The written quote stated I had towing service - when I received the policy no towing coverage was included. When I called to let them know the mistake they stated the towing service was included in the road side service! Even after they included it in the quote, I was just told sorry. Well the road side service is extra money so obviously I am no longer with them.

    Hello hdscott,

Thank you for your post. Allow me to apologize for the trouble this has caused you. A few things to remember that GMAC coverage is almost always more inclusive then most insurance policies. They cover your RV more like an actual home then almost all other insurance companies. Most will cover your RV with the same standards for a vehicle. While I can not directly comment on your rates I can pass this on to the Executive team for further investigation. Please send me a PM with all your contact information and your Good Sam membership number and I will make sure to get this in their hands for further assistance.

  • I had the same experience with them. My rates went up almost $1600/year and this was before any storms. They told me that they had a rate increase. I told them goodbye.
  • You really have to shop around. From Family Motor Coach I got a quote that was exactly twice what I now pay. Shop around, it really pays.
  • Ever since I started driving I've been told that you should call several companies annually to compare rates. Nearly every insurance company adjusts your rate up every year. I had been with Liberty mutual for everything except a motor home and a classic car. I called AAA and they cut my bill in half with identical coverage. The MH coverage was the same. I still call around though. They count on you not noticing the small increases.
  • I don't have any answers for you but I have never dealt with a more un-professional servicer EVER. I filled out the online form for a quote. Their price was even higher than I was paying Progressive. A couple days later I get a call from GS and I told the guy that his price was too high. He said, " Well, that price quote means nothing, and he can do much better". I took the call while at a store and asked him to call me back in a couple hours. That was six months ago and I have yet to be called back.
