On my way back from TN going through Alabama south of Troy. My belt broke. I called Good Sam and they sent a repair man from Montgomery which was 50 miles north of where I was. I told the Good Sams person to have them bring a belt and told them all the information they needed to know to get the correct belt. When they arrived 1 1/2 hour later they had no belt.
they were three people in a truck pulling a large trailer which said Mc Coy Mobil RV Repair. Said they had no belt and would have to go back to Troy 30 miles north of where we were. I told them I had a belt which I bought for spare when I first got the motor home. They crawled under the rig and after about one hour got the belt installed. I asked what my charges was and they said $438.00. I almost fell over. Since I had no choice in the matter I wrote them a check and went on my way. My question to myself is why did I call Good Sams Road Service. I could have found a RV repair shop myself in the town I was near. I looked it up on the computer and they was one with in 10 miles. So in this case I felt Good Sam was not very helpful. Thinking strong about another road service. I ordered another belt, won't travel without a spare.
You had a choice but did not take it. REFUSE TO PAY! Make a scene. GSRA dispatched an INDEPENDENT SERVICE CONTRACTOR to your location. Any other roadside service may have dispatched the same people. GSRA pays them for travel time only, you are responsible for labor. Max $200 would be reasonable. Stop payment on our check AND READ THE GOOD SAM BROCHURE so you know your coverage
