In defense of ALL road side services.
When we are stranded on the side of the road we are NOT the lone ranger in that position on that given day.

ERS companies call the nearest tow shop on their list for you. If the tow truck driver is out on another call you are next on their list.

Tow truck companies work all day running to service calls. Certainly not in GS's control. Respectively everyone has to wait their turn.

A friend of mine has I towing company and I help him on the weekends. Last Saturday I was dispatched to a small sleepy little town, that has a population of 400 and the closest road that has more than 2 lanes is about 3hrs away. It was 45 miles from me to the vehicle. The service provider told me that I had 2 hrs to get there....which is about normal as the average speed on a 2 lane road is actually 30mph even if the speed limit is 50mph. Upon arrival to this sleepy little town ...I was greeted with the Old Home Days parade. 400 people and 1 stop sign turned into 4000 people all walking in the parade.

Had that happen once. On the way, he came across an accident and Law Enforcement had him clear the road. So time delays can happen.

Maybe they were busy or the tow service had gone into the night mode where someone is on call.
You should of asked the tow guy what happened
