Good Sam Care Team - kopy_katExplorerAs a final note, the rep from National General has contacted me. Two things happened to affect my last rate of $276 annually...the company admitted that they had made a mistake, and also pointed out that since my policy does cover FULL replacement of the unit at 6 years old the rate did go up accordingly. I’m happy with the final result.
And thanks to those that responded with kind and positive notes back to me.
Larry - Charlie_D_ExplorerAt one time I had Good Sam insurance on my 5er, truck and car for 7 years. Renewable every 6 months. They subbed it to National General. Had very good pricing on the bundle when I began and when it came up for renewal in March I called them and they told me the premium for the camper was $400/6 months. Very few rate increases until the last 3 years and then they were about $100.00 every six months until they reached $1700 for 6 months and a $300 increase over the previous 6 months I am now with another carrier that is well known in the industry with same coverage, lower deductibles and 1 year premium for $1611/year.
I failed to do due diligence because I became lazy. - westernrvparkowExplorer

Apparently all you wanted to do was vent about your rate increase and were not looking for either alternatives or possible explanations.
Why are you asking the forum? Why not call your insurance carrier? SMH
Jdb7566... I’m looking for advice, which is what a forum is for...not smarta$$ responses!
If you want a definitive answer as to why your insurance premiums rose, the only way to possibly get an answer would be to contact your insurance carrier. They are the only people that could offer that specific information. Since insurance premiums are based on personal information there is no one on these forums who could give you a precise answer.
If you are looking for advice as to other carriers to consider and where to shop, your post does not convey that request.
If you want a generic list of reasons why insurance companies raise rates, here is a start.
1. your driving record has changed
2. your credit score has changed
3. your current age has put you into a higher risk category
4. the insurance provider has experienced losses in underwriting RVs and are repricing
5. your insurance provider has experienced losses in your type of RV and are repricing
6. competition for business has decreased, allowing your carrier to increase prices
7. your domicile has changed
8. your state insurance commission has allowed for a rate increase
9. your have had a claim
10. your insurance company wants to increase their profits
That is a start of a list, I am sure there are dozens more. - 352Explorer

Hi Kopy Kat,
RV rates have been rising over the past several years. Ella is right that we can reach out to you or if you call us at the agency we can see if we can either get your rate down with that carrier or quote you with one of our other carriers to see if we can get you better pricing with the same or better coverage.

Talk about increases. Whenever beer prices go up I increase the price on my rentals. Cant beat that - kopy_katExplorerBadgerMcAdams...you are so very correct...unfortunately...

Because unfortunately Kopy Kat, people here would rather kick you in the teeth than offer a helping hand. Mind you, not all of them, but there are a certain select group who find pleasure in ridiculing or demeaning others for asking a simple question.

Maybe because insurance costs for most everything rise over time? RV insurance is a relatively small pool. If your insurance company suffers significant claims the ripple effect can be dramatic. You always have the option to shop around.
Could someone explain why my new billing has jumped from last years $267.00 to $409.00???
