- beemerphile1ExplorerDepends on what you want from your membership.
Discounts? May not be worth it.
A club with some great people? Worth it in my opinion.
What do you want from your membership? - LadyRVerExplorer III did the Lifetime Membership sometime in the 90's. Worth it for me..
Don't have to think about a yearly dues, use the GS camping discount 3-4 times during a trip... I haven't gone to a big rally yet, but hope to. Enjoyed the magazine when it came regularly. Guess as above poster said, depends on what you want out of it. - kalynzooExplorerIf you have the cash on hand, and if you enjoy RVing, why not? If you have to borrow or give up something you want to pay the lifetime membership, probably not! JMHO
- RollnhomeExplorerTry the regular membership for awhile. You need to be a regular member to be eligible for the veterans special rate anyway. So give the regular membership a try out then decide.
So the veterans deal is for GS members. That brings the total veterans life membership to about $325. Really need to read the GS/CW fineprint and disclaimers. - Nutinelse2doExplorer

$325? Wow. We got ours for $225, no military discount, but we had been members for at least 3 years prior if I remember correctly. Then again, it was late 90's I believe.
To the OP... We think it's worth it for the RV Plus Fuel Card .08c gallon discount on diesel, the discount at parks, and to not have to renew a membership. It also gives you free shipping on a lot of items from CW, and helps support this forum. - DownTheAvenueExplorerWith the record Camping World seems to have regarding customer service and what appears to be its lack of desire and or competence to keep their customers satisfied, I would have a hard time trusting them with anything deemed "lifetime."
However, before investing big bucks, try out an annual membership and evaluate its merits for you. You may find it offers you value and you may not. I found the "discounts" at a Camping World store to be artificial and the product often priced cheaper elsewhere even with the "discount." I also found the discounts at the campgrounds to be pretty much available using other memberships such as AARP, AAA, etc. I have even just gotten the discount by asking or paying cash. I prefer to camp at state, federal, and municipal campgrounds, so the discount at a commercial campground has little appeal. - wbwoodExplorerDivide the yearly price into the Lifetime price you are quoted. Do you plan on RVing that many years? We took advantage of it several years ago with the Law Enforcement discount at the time. We have a camping world down the road and probably have saved the cost in just discounts there. Plus we have aoccasionally used the discount at campgrounds. The more you RV, the more it's worth it.
- tenbearExplorerHow old are you?
How long do you plan to continue RVing?
Have you thought of joining a local chapter? Ours is a great group of people.
Do you have a CW nearby? - kennethwoosterExplorerPaid yearly for awhile, and they had a really good Life Time rate so we went with it. I do not regret it. We use GS very little only because we stay in one place a long time, and thus don't get to use it much. We just pay for long time stay. However it does have its benefits for most people. I do sign up for the give away about every day. Wish they would have rallies closer to the central part of the USA. Back 2004, they had a rally in Hutchison KS. It was fun. Since then they are just too far away.
- OaklevelExplorerBeen a Life time member for several years even before the tie to Camping World.
We figured the 10% camping discount at member campgrounds would pay for it but now with not also paying the presidents club annual dues at Camping World the Life Membership is well worth it for us.
Our has been well paid for in those discounts alone.
One campground we go to saves us $10 per weekend so 20 weekends paid most of ours.
