Poor GS Roadside Service

Were reminded of a bad experience we had last summer by another GS roadside assistance incident.

Last June, we had a blowout near Everett, WA on I-5. We were able to get over on the shoulder, but it was not safe. We called BAD SAM, and they informed us that there were not any tow companies with equipment big enough to replace our tire on the trailer with the spare that could be there quicker than 2 hours.

This is just outside of Seattle on the FREEWAY....NO GS Roadside service? Really?

I ended up calling Les Schwab which was about 2 miles away. They were there in 15 minutes, replaced the flat with our spare, and guided us to their store. They showed up in a pickup truck with compressor, impact wrench and assorted jacks. Les Schwab Tire Store charged $100 for the service call.....about what we pay for Bad Sam per year......decisions/decisions!

We now use Coach-Net!
  • The reason for the first time post was that I was on another forum and someone said that there was someone listening who cared on the GS site.

After numerous ERS phone call-backs while we were precariously perched on the road shoulder, and their (ERS) failure to find a tow company nearby, we had to take the matter in our own hands. We bought emergency service for emergencies and Good Sam failed to give us the service we had paid for.

To answer a couple of concerns, we had the blowout in a very dangerous spot, and took the first available place to pull off the freeway. To the guy who asked why we would think that someone else would want to change a tire/wheel in a dangerous place (?) is exactly the reason we paid for ERS, and they failed to deliver....it is called (E) for emergency and (R) for roadside, and (S) for service....we should have qualified for all three, we got none.

Good Sam, Camping World, Woodalls, what else would draw a person to this forum for the first time if they have GS service and have a complaint? It would be here. Common sense.

Now, if GS can make this customer happy, he may continue to participate in the forum and be a wealth of knowledge.

Negative comments about first time posters only alienates them when we should be welcoming them to the forum and showing them how good it is, not scaring them off.

  • Unfortunately tires don't always pick safe places to fail.

Wow. First post and complaining about an incident that happened 11 months ago. Must be a slow day.

I have to agree. Why wait 11 months? The OP also did not say if he contacted GS ERS for reimbursement. I also don't understand why folks stop in places they say are unsafe and expect someone else to work where it is unsafe.
