Questions on coverage.

Hello,
New guy here.

I am interested in getting GS insurance for my RV but was unable to find any information on what the policies cover/don't cover, any various levels, etc. online at the GS website. I called the 800 number and was sent into a holding pattern for someone who could fill me in.
I waited over 45 minutes for someone to answer but then had to get back to the business of the day.

I would like to read, in writing, the coverages available, exclusions and limitations and the costs associated and make an intelligent and, most importantly informed decision about a product before I buy, especially a product as complex and expensive as insurance.

Is there a place on line to read the policies and dissect them?

  • Thanks for everyone's input.
Bob, I called the 888 number and sat in the holding pattern for quite some time waiting to be put through to someone who could give me specific information.
    Jim and Betty...
How you doin?...:) You guessed it!

I live in northern California, my wife is the office manager for a major national mutual company, and she she covers everything including our RV. I am not thrilled with the way they handled, or didn't handle, a claim on our previous RV and am shopping around for other options.
I suppose I will just have to make the time to get on the phone and wait.
    Thanks everyone...
  • Arch,

As you have found, it is very difficult to find actual policy language online for comparison of coverage and exclusions. This is partially due to the fact that each state requires their own language in the policy. If the information available online about the RV specific coverages is insufficient to meet your needs, you can call 888-751-1175 and one of the Good Sam agents will be happy to assist you. Good Sam represents most of the insurance companies providing RV insurance and the agents can answer your questions.

  • Check with your auto insurance agent. I was able to get the same coverage as GS for less...5 yr. exact replacement if available or comparable, 7 yrs. payback of what I paid for my trailer new.
  • At the top of this page there is a tool bar. That will take you to different coverage plans. Be sure to click on eacgh covered item and read the exceptions/exclusions.
