Roadside Assistance Renewal Question

I am a Good Sam Club member but have never purchased the Good Sam Club Roadside Assistance. Last week I received both a renewal reminder for GS Roadside Assistance and also in the mail I received a renewal notice and two membership cards which I've never had before. Has anyone else had this happen to them? Did I have the program and not know it or is this a marketing ploy to get me to buy it? The cost is $79 for a year "renewal".

  • I went ahead and purchased the renewal for a year. We'll see how it goes. Hopefully I won't need to use it!

I think better, since they do offer this forum and are willing to suffer the slings, arrows and flames when someone hasn't delivered. Name another company that openly encourages this sort of, in several cases downright rude, feedback.

    RobWNY,

Thank you for your post. I have looked into your account and you received a complimentary Good Sam Roadside Assistance Platinum membership in January, for your membership in the Good Sam Club, as well as having a policy with Good Sam Insurance. We sent you information on this on 1/9/15. The membership offer to renew is correct, but at a lower rate than the normal renewal rate, as you did not purchase the Roadside Assistance plan to begin with. Please let me know if you have any further questions.

I think it is a pretty cool way to advertise. You were given the original trial offer, and the renewal is discounted. I'd call that a good deal if you want the coverage. I have Good Sam Roadside Assistance as it is as good as any of them.JMHO

  • I bet it is a cheesy, somewhat unethical ploy to get you to sign up for the service. "Good" Sam has, as previously posted, signed up members for a short introductory period, so technically you would be renewing. However, they never told the members they were enrolled in the service during the free introductory period. This type of business practice is shady, unethical, and disrespectful to the customer.
