Swipe & Save Start the pump?

The latest edition of Highways in Trailer Life page V states that if you register your drivers license with a Pilot Flying J rep, you can "Start the Pumps" at the truck lanes using the GS Swipe and Save card and then pay inside after pumping.

The Good Sam Web page FAQ says otherwise, start the pump was discontinued due to abuse.

Which is it?

  • Highways is a quarterly supplement in TL and MH mags. May was the prior issue. But if you've not gotten a TL magazine since May, that might be a problem.

The GS fueling program is either overly complicated or not well explained.

It almost looks like at one time all you had to do was swipe your GS card and the pumps would turn on... without any pre-payment or credit card required?

I can see how that might get abused.
  • Hummm... Now that this topic is brought up, and being a Lifetime Member, I just noticed I haven't received an issue of Highways (Trailer Life) since the May 2015 issue? I wonder what's up with That.... anyone else have the same thing happen to them?

  • This is welcome IF IT WORKS which is doubtful.

And it is just another layer of complexity on a system that is already burdened by too many exceptions, rules and which card goes in which pump at which lanes on the second Wednesday of the month. And whatever you do do go inside with it as they dont know what it is.

This system should be simple. ONE CARD, ALL LANES, ALL THE TIME, INSIDE OR OUT. SAME DISCOUNT FOR ALL MEMBERS.

I notice that their system like every other electronic pay at the pump. Very very efficient at taking and putting a hold on your funds. But cannot process the DISCOUNT card.

This is just one of those management issues that seems to escape GSE and instead of seeing value in simplicity and ease of use for the customer they apparently work on the idea that complexity, confusion and erratic performance is a better.
  • Interesting. I don't see where you found that information on the FAQ, but I am reading the Highways thing you mentioned.

Are "Easy Fuel" and "Pump Start" the same thing?
