Sitting on the side of the roadway with fast moving vehicles zooming by paying top dollar for tire/labor is 'safer' and all though cost is inflated it only becomes an issue AFTERWARDS.

Been there. done that on the berm with traffic whizzing by at 70 per and it was a driver's side flat.. and I changed it myself with skinned up elbows and a dirty shirt and pants and a bad attitude afterwards. Great way to ruin a camping trip.
But then I'm cheap and I do catty a spare and I make sure it's inflated too.
