TravelAssist usage

There seems to be some confusion about what I was asking about.

My question was pertaining to Good Sam's Travel Assist and not their Roadside Assistance program. Obviously these are two completely different programs. I already have the Roadside Assistance program but was asking about other experiences with the Travel Assist program.

Hello. I am a Good Sam member and I signed up for the TravelAssist last summer. Somewhere between Detroit and Chicago, the tire pressure indicator in my dash lit up. We pull off with the 5thWheel at the next exit and drove into a gas station. I had hit a roofing nail and it was deflating quickly. This happened late on Sunday afternoon. I called for assistance and TravelAssist told us that they would be there within 30 minutes. They did call me back to reassure that help was along the way. I detached the 5thWheel and they installed the spare on my F250. Without 1 hour of having a problem, we were back on the road again. They also called us back about 30 minutes after the repairs to make sure we were satisfied. That single call paid for the membership. Without it, I would have been very difficult since I did not know the area at all plus it was a Sunday. Very Very happy !!!

A similar plan is included in the $60 membership fee with the FMCA.

Why would Ella answer is it worth it? ... were you satisfied with it for the money...?

Wouldn't that be self-fulfilling? You think maybe Ella meant questions that she won't be accused of bias?

As for riding in the RV or tow vehicle during it's return it still states for liability reasons you can not.
They will also pay to return one travel companion or pet home.
There are expenses such as hotel rooms, meds, etc you pay for.

You really have to read the whole contract to see if it fits your needs. Other insurers offer a simular product so it isn't unique to GS.

P.S. Unless I am traveling cross country I don't bother with it, but it was free with the purchase on our new camper.

My understanding when I had this plan, was humans and/or pets cannot be in the rv when they are returning the unit to where it goes. May have changed in rules by now.

You need to read the actual policy. Under almost every situation, they will only monitor your situation and assist in obtaining services. They will decide if you need anything else. It really is not much of a value. The sales brochure seems to indicate all of these great benefits, but the actual policy says something much different.

Good Sam is very good at hyping up their services, but not very good at delivering services. I would not want to be in a medically fragile situation where Good Sam drops the ball and wait for the "Rapid Response" team asking for my membership number and contact information in a private message on their website.
