Wallet where heart is

marcus just started a fund to help small businesses hurt by the recent bombing. He donated the first 1/2 million dollars. He really stepped up and timely.

  • No where near FEMA level. Granted it is major damage, but localized. We have had tornadoes here that did more wide spread damage and no FEMA involvement.

I watched Marcus live on Fox News this afternoon. He made some good comments and points for the most part. A real stand up guy with a Make It Happen attitude.

However, one thing he beat on was the lack of FEMA involvement. Is this tragic event at a level that would justify FEMA involvement? Residents, business and building owners have insurance policies to call on. Local organizations should certainly be offering aid to address immediate needs. But I'm not sure this would be at the FEMA level. This just struck me as strange.

    What's your thoughts?

The ability for investors to invest money, time and expertise in struggling businesses is one of the best things about capitalism. It offers a way for those businesses to stay in business and keep their employees employed. I suppose the show could just show why the businesses are struggling and at the end show the owners in Bankruptcy court and the former employees in the unemployment line. Would that be better?
