To use the words of Dirty Hairy, ARE YOU FEELING LUCKY? naturally as with any insurance product the sure winner is going to be the insurance company. This is because the have done the research to discover what fails, how often it happens and how much it costs to repair it amongst many other factors to determine the risk.
As a consumer we can just complain about it or we can do the research to determine the risk of costly failures during the time we will own the RV. We can do the research to discover how different companies handle claims, there are lots of differences. Another factor is how much are you going to use our RV, full time, a few months a year, weekends or less.
If we understand the risk and understand the protection against loss we are purchasing then we can make an educated decision if the price of the protection is worth the amount of risk reduction that it provides.
In my case, full time, many expensive to repair systems, poor quality initial built into most of these systems and relatively low cost of the coverage offered for long time, I choose to have the protection. It only took 2 months of my 6 year coverage to recover 90% of the money I paid. The fridge broke and the manufacturer warranty had ended a few weeks before, GSESP did exactly as they said they would and paid for everything except my deductible.
I felt very lucky that I had done the research and decided to limit my possible losses.
