Here are a few facts about the Good Sam Extended Service Plan. No, it does not cover maintenance items. No Extended Warranty or Service Contract or Mechanical Breakdown Insurance policy does. But it does cover thousands of mechanical components in your RV. As you all know, RVs are expensive to repair (average labor rates are around $110 per hour now). And like any other insurance plan, you hope you don't need it when you buy it, but ONE out of THREE Good Sam members who have Good Sam ESP have a paid claim EVERY YEAR. That includes towables as well as motorized RVs. Compare that to the frequency of claims for your homeowners or auto insurance!
Yes, you need to read what is covered and what is excluded for any plan or insurance policy. For instance, to keep your coverage in place, you must keep up with your maintenance (oil and filter changes and the like). And if we can repair something (like a furnace) instead of replacing it, and still solve the problem, that's what we will do. We don't use parts from the junk yard! But some components can be replaced with quality re-built parts that have the same warranty as a brand new part.
To get the full advantage from your Good Sam ESP, you should always call us FIRST before you take your RV in for repairs. We have an extensive network of Preferred Providers who are qualified to repair any kind of component on your RV, and if you can use one of these Preferred Providers, you will be assured that the shop will accept payment directly from Good Sam, won't overcharge you or do unnecessary work, and will stand behind what they do.
