what good is the plan if you can't get an appointment?

We purchased our RV at Camping World a year ago, and purchased the Good Sam extended warranty insurance. We are unhappy campers because all three Camping World service departments anywhere near us (up to 3 hours drive) are booked solid. The earliest we could get our 5er in for repair is three weeks, and we already know from past experience that's only the beginning. Last summer they had our 5er for almost two months off and on, because each repair had to inspected, approved for repair, and parts ordered, some of which took several weeks to be ordered and delivered properly. It was an awful experience and we don't want to have it repeated again. We are fearful of making an appointment because we don't want to lose our summer travel time like we did last year. Just an aside....even getting to talk to someone in the Camping World service dept is a test of patience. It took us numerous left messages (they are always too busy to answer phone)before they called us back.

  • Thank you to everyone for their posts. I suppose what I should have added is that repairs on our new 5er were pretty extensive right from the get go......lots of problems. Suppose we feel pretty jaded about things. I know summer is a busy time but summer is when we usually travel, which means its also the time we discover what's wrong. I will contact esp dept and see where we go from here. Thanks again.

  • I don't think you HAVE to go to CW for ESP work. Lots of good dealers/repair facilities near Woodland.
  • The last time I needed major work done on my 5er, a service rep from the company (not Camping World) came out to the campground, documented the needed repairs and coordinated with the insurance company. When all the required parts were at the repair facility, I dropped the 5er for a week. Not everybody works that way??
  • This is the busy time of the year. Might make an appointment to get it looked at then ask to have the RV back until the parts come in. Then take it back for repairs.
  • Is it a requirement that you can only go to camping world for warranty repairs?
    I thought not
