- fla-gypsyExplorerQuote from the OP "letting Camping World flounder"? Huh? Camping World is growing rapidly and I am certain it is making a nice profit. Doing a little research shows CW to be the largest RV sales and product retailer in North America. A Google search turns up 173 million hits. That is NOT floundering. No doubt when you are that big you will not please everyone and they can certainly improve in some areas but "floundering" they are not! they did 1.48 Billion in sales in 2012 a 28.8% increase over 2011.

He had a chat session after that airing. And yes the guy he was dealing with was a ROCK HEAD.
- westernrvparkowExplorerMaybe he realizes that in the long run parts of Camping World are a dying business. Everyone posts how they can buy this and that off the internet cheaper than at a CW store. Well, maybe that's because the only profit to be made inventorying water pumps in an expensive building, on a lot of valuable real estate, with a bunch of expensive equipment, staffed by sales clerks and technicians is by selling them for a premium to the "need it now" customer and charging a profitable labor rate to install it. Maybe he realizes that any future for Camping World is in retail RV sales and repairs, because that isn't done very well on line. CW is now the largest retailer or RVs in the world, that is a job well done, whether or not an individual likes their services.
You can just as easily argue that Walmart doesn't get customer service because the greeter won't walk you down the aisle to find a hose washer like an employee at the local hardware store will. Yet you would be hard pressed to say that hardware store really gets retailing and Walmart does not. The goals of a business and the customer often do not completely mesh. - rockhillmanorExplorer II

Don't hold your breath! :B
I doubt a multimillionaire is sitting in front of a computer 24 7's 'personally' answering questions on this forum.

an letting Camping World flounder? He seems to understand business and what it takes to satisfy the customer on the Profit so why does he not apply these principals to CW. I guess CW just is not that important to him anymore...
What makes you say this I have shopped at CW all over the country and I have one a few miles from my summer home and I have never had a problem. Returning a bike rack that I miss ordered was a piece of cake (for instance) - SCVJeffExplorerLike the water pump I bought on sale -way cheaper than anywhere else I could find on the web. And free shipping
- WoodGlueExplorerI won't shop at CW unless it's the only place where I can get a particular item. I know ahead of time I'm going to be slapped with some ridiculous shipping fee and I resent that!
WoodGlue - wbwoodExplorerI don't think giving into customer demands is necessarily a a process failing. I believe he puts people in place that should know how to run each store. And then each person running each store has many people below them. People screw up and people make mistakes. It's gonna happen no matter what name that's on the front of the building. This forum just highlights some issues that happen. It's a tool Marcus uses to first of all, know what is going on within his business as he can not be at every single store every day. Two he uses it fix things that happen and I imagine is a great tool for him to keep some places in line and remain accountable for their actions.

What is your definition of flounder? Because of the *****ing on here?
CW seems to be growing and expanding, and most likely posting larger profits.
It still comes down to each local CW management, not Marcus.
Marcus definitely has moved into, the TV world, he may be keeping a pulse and leading CW.
Still one of few companies, supportting an open forum for customer communication.

Marcus professes that a successful business needs a successful process and still CW service does not have a company process, each manager is left to discover his own way of doing things with the customer serving as the looser when his process fails...lets whip CW into being all it can and should be. - Markiemark32ExplorerWhat is your definition of flounder?
