19.5 Tire Pressure ??

So my NEW 19.5 tires say 120 lbs max but the label for specs inside motorhome say tires front and back should be 80 lbs ??

40 lbs under tire manufacture pressure seems to low, so for now I put my tires at 95 lbs, am I to high or to low ??

Really need to know the weights at each corner and make of tires.... but for example, if you have Michelin 245/70R 19.5 XZE's and inflated to 80 psi, you could have 3640 lbs on each front tire and 6830 on each set of duals in the rear... that gives you about 21,000 lbs capacity. Of course, it's highly unlikely your weights are evenly distributed.
  • My coach is similar to the OP's with a max GVWR of 18,000 Lbs. and the coach builder' recommended pressure is also 80 PSI. For my coach 80 PSI will give the tires a load capacity that is just above the axle capacities. Loaded for a weekend the coach only weights 15,250 LBS. so even at 80 PSI I'm over inflated. Haven't found an inflation table that goes below 80 PSI so that's what I run. Also once on the road I usually gain 10 PSI as reported by the pressure sensors.

Inflate to a pressure you feel comfortable with but don't go below 80.
  • I run 80 psi all around. In past years, when New Jersey had complete inspections (they only do air pollution readings now) I found that on the brake platform, where brake function is checked, the motorhome was also weighed. Each tire. Each axle. The entire thing.
I asked the attendant to give me a print out. Then I called Goodyear. Told the lady my weights on each tire and axle...after a moment or two, she said I could run with less than 80 psi...but if I was comfortable with 80, leave it there.
  • The Tire store that I deal with usually inflates them to 100psi!

95 would be close enough for Me!

What does your MH weigh? What does the tire manufactures load chart spec #'s for your axle weight. Even if you weigh all tires separately, opposing tires on the same axle should be equal to the higher weight of the two.
  • If you have had good service at 95psi, why change?
Weighing your coach at all four corners only tells you the weight at that moment. As you drive you use fuel, shift water from fresh to gray/black tanks, add groceries, and add more clothes for a longer trip than a shorter trip.
If 95psi worked with your old tires, I'd stick with it.
  • Weigh MH, preferably at each corner but front/rear will also due. Go to tire manufacturer's tire chart and see recommended pressure for weights. I adjust to the heaviest load and add 5psi for a safety margin.

Probably too much but without knowing real weight and being able to guess a little by knowing your motorhome no can give advice. On my winnebago 30t vista I run at 80 on average. My actual weights would allow me to be lower on front.

Its a 08 Bounder 33ft, spec says 17,200 lbs curb weight..
