1992 Itasca sunrise

This last weekend was very hot. But had a cool down the next day I noticed the front cooling fan stayed on and the temp gauge run at about 140s to 150s sometimes lower . Is there a way to test to makesure that front fan is cycling like it should and not just stuck on . Might need to install a light on dash so I know when its on and off . And at what temp should it cycle . any info be great .:)

  • At slow speed or stopped there's not enough air flow to cool the condenser and make the air work so they put the fans there. It's independent of the engine cooling system, the two fans would move very little air compared to the mechanical fan.

Turn your air on and off, they should operate at the same time.

Electric fan I'm guessing because you're talking about adding a light.

If it is you need to find out if it's for engine cooling or moving air over the AC condenser in which case it will run with the AC switched on.

Ok Its the electric fan in front of the AC condenser/oil cooler. and yes I just got the ac in front charged . So It always runs if the air conditioners on OK , I will have to check it out. This is first time I have run it when the front air conditioners working. Could I also try to turn on the front heater and see if blows hot air . that would tell me if the thermostats stuck open . Or maybe its the gauge acting up. thanks for the help.

  • I assume we are talking engine temps. If so, it sounds like your thermostat is stuck open. Regardless of fan running or outside temperatures the thermostat should control engine temp somewhere in the 185-205 deg range (based on T-stat setpoint). This is assuming the gauge is accurate too.
