1995 Conquest rubber roof

I washed the roof on my newly purchased (1995 Conquest)class c today. When I got through the roof seem very tacky and is easly scuffed with your shoes. I am thinking about applying the liquid EPDM to the roof. Will the gummy or tacky roof coat do good with the liquid EPDM?
  • Just did mine last week. Power wash it first. Then use the Proflex primer. That stuff is heavy duty. Then Liquid Roof it.

I would expect a 20 year old rubber roof to be dry and the outer layer of white to be worn off showing some black if anything. Was the roof previously coated with something? If so the liquid roof may not adhere well. Was the soap thoroughly rinsed off? Is the entire roof tacky or just one area?
  • bartrak - Can you describe in more detail on how you washed your roof? For example - Did you use a bucket of hot water with some chemical mixed in? The usual recommendation is to use a mild dish soap like "dawn". Did you use a soft bristol brush or a rag etc.

If your roof is now gummy or tacky, it sounds like there was something about the wash that would attack the rubber in the roof material.
