2 year old tires - small cracks

Hello,

My friend is leaving on a three week cross country trip soon. He replaced his tires 2 years ago and noticed these cracks recently. The tire shop says not to worry that they are fine. These have already been replaced once for this same issue. Do you agree these are fine or of concern? I am asking for him, I normally post in the travel trailer section and I am not familiar with Class A tires.
Thanks!

  • That's about how the 8 year old tires that were on our motor home when we purchased it. I replaced them first thing.

What was the production date stamped on the tire?

X2. Tell your friend to find the date before making a decision.
  • I'd change them now. What was the production date stamped on the tire? They look old man, like a retread. If these are on a 5th wheel then not sure, I would replace a tire like that on my Class A.
  • The cracks do not look severe but I would still keep an eye on them and make sure that they are not run under-inflated at all. The cracks are a concern tho since they are happening on two year old tires. I have seen much older tires that look better.
  • I think the tire shop is correct - those are OK. But I would suggest your friend monitor them.

But the question is, if the tire shop replaced them once for the same issue, why would they not replace them again? Is it a matter of degree? Or was it because the shop replaced them just to be nice?
