Thanks very much. Would a thor hurricane 33ft v 10 out pull this dp ?
You're not comparing apples to apples. The Cummins ISB will last longer and pull longer without wearing out as fast as a gas engine. Gas engines are designed for brief periods of full throttle. Diesel engines can tolerate wide open throttle much better than gas engines, although WOT isn't good for either one.
That said, since you plan to pull a heavy trailer, look for a coach with the larger 8.3 Cummins, known as the ISC. Even if you have to settle on an older rig, you'll be happier.
yes the V10 33 ft gasser would outpull the much Heavier(under powered) 260HP isb unit - jvernonExplorerAbout when did the 8.3 ISC Hit the market Can this engine be found in late 90s models ?

Up until '98 the engine was the Cummins C 8.3. When electronic controls were added in '98 it became known as the ISC. - Canadian_RainbiExplorerWe tow a Jeep Wrangler Saraha 4 door with a 32' 2002 Horizon with Cummins 5.9 liter 300 HP ISB. And the Allison 6 speed. It tows fine up the hills if you get a reasonably good start. Not good starting out from a stop at the bottom until you get going. It's a bit low on torque but has serve us for 5 years (2 with the Jeep, 3 with a Chevy Tracker) I agree with others, find a rig with the Allison 6 speed.
- RayChezExplorerI agree that the Cummins ISB would be under powered for that coach.
- jvernonExplorerwhat about the CAT 300 or 330 hp ? look for ISC here too ? to get 1,000 lbs of torque...

yes like I said early ninetys and on up.one was mechanical and later electronic injection etc still both 8.3 cummins engines - RayChezExplorerThe Caterpillar 3126-E 330HP is a very good and dependable engine with non of the smog devices added later on.
