2003 R-Vision Trail Lite Water Pump Location

My wife and I recently purchased a 2003 R-Vision Trail Lite 211 (22ft) Ford E350 RV. This is our first RV. The original owner had the vehicle modified for handicap use. Apparently he used a wheel chair. He modified the benches, table, seats and put in a hydraulic transfer seat, electric stairs, grab bars and rails.

We would like to restore it back to the original the condition. But, we didn't get an owner's manual with it. We've had no success in trying to find any kind of diagrams either, since the manufacturer is out of business. The main question right now is the water pump. It was laying under one of the benches. The holes in the floor suggest that it was mounted somewhere else but, we have no clue where it could have been or where is should be. Is there anyone that can help?

  • Water pumps are commonly located very close to your fresh water holding tank.

This could very well be your floorplan -

My Model 211-S is slightly different as my couch is behind the driver and my dinette is behind the passenger. The couch is in the slide-out. The water pump is under the dinette seat closest to the front of the vehicle along with the fresh water tank. The pump is mounted to the floor closest to the outside wall. Hope that helps a little.
  • Thank you for your help.

The original owner repositioned the water tank, water pump and raised the benches to accommodate a wheel chair. I think one of the benches was actually taken out (along with the passenger seat). I didn't see how he had it configured. I'm the third owner. The second owner did some modification before I bought it.

The information you provided explains where it should be mounted but, I'm confused with the holes on the floor. Did the water lines originally run underneath on the outside? Mine were cut and run along the floor on the inside. They were covered with a molding that the last owner made. I don't see where they could have been run on the underside. My generator sits between the tank and the sink.

  • Where possible, RV manufacturers try to run fresh water supply lines inside, rather than under the house, except where there is a heatable basement to enclose the plumbing. The Trail-Lite C was not in the heated basement class.

Thus you often see the water tank, and everything that uses water, on one side of the coach, so that the lines don't need to be run across. In my RV, where they do cross over, the run is made inside the structure of the floor, to keep from going underneath the floor. That might be where your original lines were run, inside the floor.
  • I'll have to look closer. I never thought of it being IN the floor. Thank you for your help!

  • I have a Trail Lite, but a different floor plan. On mine, the water tank is in the front half of the dinette, and the pump is in the rear half. The hose connecting the pump to the tank runs inside an angled, carpeted cavity along the base of the wall between the two dinette halves. I can post photos of the various things if you need them.

Just like "Snowman9000" explains, our RV floorplan is also slightly different from "pellifson". Here is a picture looking down on the fresh tank drain on the far left and then the low point drain next (bubble wrap to deaden sound) -

This picture also looking down a little to the right showing the (blue/white) tank fill, the vent, the pump, and the loop suction line to the pump -

Hate to use too many words to describe what is pictured.
  • On the topic of water pumps: we have a 213 and seem to have a leak around the water pump, or the pump itself. We just got back from a week of cycling in No MN so I haven't pulled it apart yet. Anyone tried to fix one of these?

It's a generic pump, so if you get no answer here, just ask in the Tech Issues forum or search the archives.
