Hi Everyone,

I am considering buying the above unit. It is a gasser Chevy workhorse 33,600 miles It is in very good condition in side and out. There are a few minor things but nothing that stands out. This rig has 3 slides which makes it very roomy. The price is in the high 30's I think that is pretty good for the condition. I sent a couple hours going all through it. The roof looks good and no signs of leaks anywhere.

My only real concern are the tires. It has Samson GL238A 255/70R 22.5 The date is 3/7/12 That is almost 6 years old. I have read these are commercial truck tires. Can they go for a few more years or are they nearing the end of their life?

I owned and lived and traveled full time in a 5er for over five years so I am pretty familiar with Rv systems. But class a are a whole different animal.

Any thoughts on this rig and the tires is appreciated.

This is a private deal. The seller has failing health and has to sell.

Thanks as always
  • Here is my two cents :

The cost of your piece of mind knowing you have new sneaks under you and the safety of you and your family far out way the cost of the tires.

Buy new ones and sleep easy!!!!
  • How long has the RV been parked? If the health issues has had it sitting in 1 spot for a year or so I would seriously consider new tires. However, as mentioned above, if the tires look good and show no signs of cracking on the sidewalls I would say that you have at least a good year or 2 before replacement would be necessary. You will just need to keep an eye on the tires as the cracking can develop quickly.

any side wall cracking or tread damage? if not u got 3 years or better left in them no problem
  • Most say to change at 7 years RV tires for the most part age out before they wear out. Use makes tires last longer then sitting. Point out the tires need replacing they may come down in price.
