2006 COACHMAN CROSS COUNTRY FUEL GAUGE ISSUE

I just bought a 2006 Cross Country diesel pusher this weekend. On trip home (760 miles) the fuel gauge started bouncing around from half to 1/4 tank. we stopped and filled up the rv at that point and gauge went almost to full and we headed back on the road. 15 minutes later gauge started bouncing and then eventually went to empty. Where is the sender located at? Anyone else have this issue with theirs? Im thinking its a bad sender or connector/ground to sender. Any help would be great before I take it to the dealer.

Thanks in advance.

Bob
  • So I went and put motorhome in storage tonight. I have not really got into checking anything yet due to weather here in Chicago. I did shake the harness in fuse box panel the other night still did not work, last night I filled washer fluid and saw the pink wire white trace going into firewall haness under hood. I shook wire harness and pushed the connector and tonight when starting the gauge worked.I hit some bumps on ride (60 miles) to storeage building and the gauged stopped and started a few time. I think I'm on right track in spring to fix issue.
  • Our first Class A is a 2007 Coachmen Cross Country.
I've found that a call to Freightliner for anything chassis related is always the best route.

  • Called freightliner-- they were very helpful. I will let you know the outcome soon on what i find.
  • Call Freightliner, Gaffney with your chassis serial number. They are really helpful.

  • I have not contacted them yet. Its a freightliner just got home last night with the rv. It is our first one so we are newbies with these.
  • Fuel sender and gauge are usually chassis manufacturer items.

Have you contacted your chassis maker with your VIN?
