2006 COACHMEN CROSS COUNTRY - MA

Hi all

Making my way through the negotiations for a class A ans the dealer advised me that the class A has a check engine and they don’t have a service engineer for diesels in Berkeley MA,

Any suggestions should I get a pre purchase inspection or call a Cummins, any suggestion
  • There are 3 Cummins service locations within a 45 minute drive. Berkeley is 30 miles from Boston for Pete's sake lol. The Dealer is blowing smoke up your butt.
  • It could be minor or major. Without check you could wind up with a total engine/transmission replacement or just a sensor. Your choice.
  • You think the battery trick ?

This is a main dealer, I’m going to get a pre inspection anyways for the usual stuff, any suggestions on how to structure this deal other than subject to inspection ?

Would you ask the local truck and Rv service places to give you a quote to fix before you own the RV?
  • If the dealer doesn't have qualified personnel to diagnose issues with a coach they are trying to sell, I'm not sure I would risk buying anything from them. How do you know there isn't anything else wrong with the coach?
  • Disconnect the engine battery 3 times, see if the light goes out.
