2007 Winnebago View 24J roof damage

I recently purchased a 2007 Winnebago View 24J took it on Two week road trip and when I got back I went on the roof to wash it. I noticed a broken approx. one inch dia something. It is right above the microwave by the awning, I'm not sure what was there to find a replacement. Nothing in my manuals at all about what was there.

Does anybody know what was there?

Thanks in advance Allen
  • Allen, on my 07 Sightseer that's about where the outside radio antenna is mounted. If you have an outside stereo that could be it or if the inside one is mounted in that area.

Here is a pic of it, this was after some power lines had fallen on my RV thus some of the damage.

That is very close to my damaged area. I was thinking it could be a antenna for the house stereo.
    Did you fix it yourself?
If so did you do it all from the roof or did you have to pull the microwave out?

So, you have an "entertainment center" featuring a radio in a addition to the one in the cockpit? I ask because I hadn't seen that in a Class C.

It'd help to know if this hole is...

    ...damage

...something missing that needs to be re-installed

    ...something missing that's unnecessary
  • Yes, a very nice Jensen house stereo and a sony cockpit stereo.
Something is clearly missing with not that much damage likely just re-caulk after installation.
Now that I have a better idea of what to ask for I'm going to hit Camping world up for a house antenna.

Assuming what you have is a base for an antenna, and another antenna can't be screwed back on the base, clean the caulking/sealant off the base and remove the screws securing the base to the roof. Just unthread the antenna lead from the base and install a new base and antenna.
If the stereo works fine the way it is, you might not need to replace the antenna mast.

I didn't fix it as it was an insurance claim on the guy that hit the power line that dropped 4 power lines on my RV (and others).

One of the great things about Winnebago is the wiring diagrams are online and you can find the parts and numbers. My gut says the antenna was ripped off but the base and wiring are still ok. I'd tear into it and see how the end of the wiring looks, then you can probably order a base, caulk and new antenna and be good to go. I'm pretty sure this is the Antenna you need.

However, agree 100% with the steps that Mich F have given and his last sentence.
