2008 discovery 40x tailpipe

Question

My "tailpipe" fell off today. I am wondering if the tailpipe is part of the muffler, or is it a separate piece? Looks to me that it is separate, but with all of the rust I can't tell.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Todd, you're in Florida, shouldn't be that much rust. The tail pipe is often welded to the muffler but the chrome tip is usually a clamp on.

Thanks everyone. I bought the rv from people who lived up north. I thinking salt on the roads is what caused all of the rust.  It looks like there is a clamp on the rear of the muffler.
