2012 Ford TorqShift Tranny Operation in Tow/Haul

Only had this coach for 2 weeks, but friends of mine that have the same F53 chassis say that when going downhill in tow/haul mode, just tapping the brake pedal will cause the tranny to downshift. Tap the brake again and it will downshift again. All the while, the computer keeps the engine from overreving.

Not seeing that on my coach. Going down hill in tow/haul (mind you, I'm not actually towing anything. Just testing)tapping the brake doesn't seem to do anything. Just keeps on picking up speed.

I've searched the Inter-Web trying to find an operator's manual on the tranny but haven't found one.

    When I push my brakes the transmission downshifts helping the braking out. In the long run the brakes will last longer because you do not put as much foot in them. It is more than a tap. When on steep downhill grades the transmission downshifts without touching the brakes as your speed starts to run away from the cruise setting.

    It seems on mine itmhas more to do with speed than applying the breaks. I tend to coast to upcoming stops and down shifts as I slow.

    It does take more than say a cruise control cancel tap. The computer needs to see a reduction in speed before it will down shift. If you want to test it without finding a hill you will feel the more aggressive down shifting around town braking for stop lights and such if the feature is active.

    Worked great for me this past summer on I40 East in western North Carolina. A bit of braking at the top, transmission down sifted and the coach held steady at 50 MPH coasting the rest of the way down the mountain.

    As previously stated, "it takes more than a tap". I was pulling my FW last weekend while going down a 7% grade. 65 mph was too fast for the conditions, so I applied the brake to reach 55 mph. Once at 55, the truck held that speed until I reached the bottom of the hill and reapplied the throttle. (TV = 2013 F350 Diesel).

    I don't know about the Ford torgshift in your motor home, but when I am in tow/haul with the torgshift trannie in my truck I have to be careful as the engine will definately overspeed when the trannie down shifts aggressively. Lots of times I have had to take the trannie out of tow/haul to prevent going past red line in RPM's

    Must be something wrong with yours. Neither my F250 nor my MH won't overrev in tow/haul.
