2013 Itasca Sunstar 30T Noise Help

Hi. I have the Sunstar 35B. I have not heard any noises as of yet, but will listen and check mine and let you know if I get any.

Still trying to find a cure.

Talked to Customer Service at Winnebago & they said they've never heard of the problem before but that there is supposed to be styro in the slideout wall with a channel for any wires that may be there. Probably no way to get to it without cutting into the wall.

On my Vista 30T we had an intermittent squeak from the buffet counter top. Wedged a piece of foam and it stopped. Sounds can bounce so don't necessarily look to where you think you hear it. Stand in the back and listen. Much difference from front. It is overall a neat rig.

Yes, it is a neat rig - we are very happy with ours.

My latest theory is that the spring in the slideout topper tube is broken or loose allowing it to rattle with road vibration & the sound being just above the slideout is radiating down the wall behind the drivers head sounding like it is in the wall. I have an appointment with the dealer to check that out in a couple of weeks.

It's new, right? Warranty, right? To the dealer you should go. And good luck with your new coach.

I agree with make good use of your warrenty. You don't want to put a quick fix on something and have it become a problem after you are on your own. By taking it in you will at least get it posted in their system that the problem started under warrenty. However I really do not think that it is in your walls. Between the insulation and aluminum studs it is too tight for that kind of movement. Like said check your dining table. It could be your blinds slapping the wall if they are not attached tightly. Our blinds in the bath and kitchen are the standard aluminum mimi blinds which casn be noisy if not pulled up while in transit. Also check your couch seatbelts. If they are down in your couch loosely they could be hanging over the frame which will allow them to swing and hit the frame or wall. Have somebody sit in the bach when you hear the noise. They should be able to pin point it. But remenber a coach will never be as quiet as your car. Enjoy and use it every chance you get.

Took it to the dealer for the first time yesterday for some warranty service & the service manager knew what the problem is. As I suspected it is cables in the wall slapping against the side. He said they have had a bunch of new Class A's come in with the problem recently. Apparantly the slide mechanism has been changed in the past year causing the problem but he assured me they can fix it by removing a panel of the wall for access. I hope he is right since the noise has become a bit worse & is annoying on long stretches on the road.

2011 Vista 35F and I think I have the same noise but it is difficult to pinpoint. Only hear it when going over a sharp bump. Mine sounds like it is overhead of the driver. Sounds like someone is dropping acorns on the roof. I would be interested in finding out how they fix it and what they found. My first thought was the wiring in the roof for the sattelite dish bouncing around. We have one large slidout on the streetside. I had mine in for service at Winnebago and of course they could not duplicate it and they also told me they had never heard of it before.

I don't have it back yet but I talked to the technician working on it today & he said he has fixed two of the slides & will do the third tomorrow so I should have it in a couple of days. He said Winnebago has issued a fix for all new coaches with the "improved" slide operating system that involves securing the motor & operating rod in the slide wall so it cannot vibrate & slap against the wall.

Hopefully, I will have it back without the noise in a couple of days.

Got it fixed today. The fix was to wrap the slide motor & a part of the operator rod with foam to cushion it so when it moves with the coach & starts slapping back & forth, it won't contact the sleeve next to the slide wall that acts as a drum & resonates the slapping sound inside the coach. Many new Class A's have gone to the Schwintec track system that is the problem.
