Snowman9000 & CT51 -
In a bizarre coincidence, I happened to be doing a tour of the FR class C factory right about the time this thread heated up last Wednesday. We own a FR Sunseeker. We were in the area for the holidays. A FR Engineer served as our tour guide.
I asked him about this exact issue that GollyCollie is experiencing. I think I had the leak location wrong. Using the picture you have above, Snowman9000, I was under the impression that GollyCollie's water was coming in somewhere where you have the "G" & / or where the trim piece runs side to side underneath the cabover separating the cap / body. And then working in those areas somehow. Reading these newer posts since, I'm not sure if that's the location or not. Then again, I don't know if GollyCollie even knows for sure yet.
Anyhow, here are a couple things he told me (not that I would have expected him to say they had a multitude of problems!):
- I really pressed him on the differences between the Sunseeker / Forester & Coachmen lines. Specifically the cap. Because, in my uneducated opinion, the cap looks nearly identical on the two units. He told me it is different, at least behind the scenes so to speak. I will say that the Sunseeker / Forester is getting a new cap. I saw it on units they were building. The roof area is still flat but the front face is more sloped (all as I recall).
- He said that in nearly all cases where water gets inside, the root location is high up & then works down.
- He ran through how they seal that trim piece. I'm very un-mechanical. But it sounded pretty solid. Stuff like a seal inside, overlapping pieces, a seal outside, caulk, & then the trim piece itself which is more decorative than anything to cover the work up. Again, I am probably way off on what he actually said but you get the idea.
Also, I do know for a fact that the two brands are made in different plants. The plant we toured makes Sunseeker, Forester, Lexington, & Solera. There is a separate plant that makes Coachman units. About the only crossover is the Coachman Division does some of the chassis work prior to FR getting a chassis.

I see you're in IL. If by any chance you are close to Northern IN (Elkhart), it might not be a bad idea to do the tour. It might help put your mind at ease about what you bought at least.
