I'm not sure on this but I thought that after a certain model year, ALL automobiles came standard with a TPMS installed. On my vehicles this TPMS has the metal valve stems. Now I do not know how an after market TPMS works in conjunction with one that is already on the vehicle. I know that my Chevrolet HHR came standard with a TPMS and has the metal valve stems.
