2014 Jeep Patriot toad

Am looking at getting a class c, meaning I'll be inline for a toad.
Can anyone give me info on towing a 2014 Jeep Patriot(auto tranny, FWD). Someone mentioned that Jeeps are the #1 vehicle for towing. Basically hook em up, put in neutral and go. Sounds too simple...

Thanks

  • JMHO, the Wrangler is the only FCA/Jeep model that I know will ship four-down ready. Others I have to check a list, but the Wrangler has/should always be able to be towed by popping the transfer case in neutral, trans in park, and going from there. The Wrangler is also light enough to be hauled by most motorhomes... yet big enough to be decently safe in a wreck.

I wouldn't say the Wrangler is the most efficient toad... but I do know that any Wrangler will work as a toad with just a tow bar attached to the front.
  • My boss tows a 2014 Jeep Patriot (2WD) behind his Class C on an ACME dolly. I don't think he's pulled it much, but no issues that I know of.

    Your opinion

  • The Jeep Patriot is a Jeep in name only and not what we think of as a real Jeep. Think Honda, Toyota or Nissan in that it is a generic transverse engine front wheel drive automatic car. My wife got one as her Goldilocks car, not to big, not too small… It works great as one of three different cars we tow with a Demco Kar Kaddy.
  • Patriot FWD Automatic is not towable 4 down. Can be towed on a dolly.
Most Jeeps that are towable 4 down are 4X4WD with a neutral selection on 4X4 transfer case.
