2015Ford E-350 Tranny temp gauge???

We just bought a Thor Vegas 25' Class'A' on the Ford E350 chassis. It has the V-10, 305 HP engine with the 5 speed Torque Shift tranny. Even tho I have a Scan Gauge it doesn't monitor Tranny Temp. I will install a Tranny Temp gauge, but where and how to install the sensor? :?

  • Go to the scan gauge site and look up the code under X-gauges for the trans.

Just get a Scangage and plug it into the OBD II socket. There is also a pressure test port on the side of the tranny that will give temp, but it doesn't track the temp as fast and is usually 15-20 degrees cooler (I've got both).

1st post says he has a Scangauge and it does not show trans temp.

  • You have the Class C chassis minus the cab. Might be able to check with ford to see if there is a tapped port on the transmission or lines for a sensor. Some of the prep packages did include a port or a gauge in the cab dash panel. Most likely not for this package. The RUV really pushes calling it a class A. Based on chassis. Yes in that the cab is the body of the unit.

Just wondering have you had it weighted yet with it full of your gear and fluids. I know past E350 chassis that I worked on and owned were always close to being maxed out on the front axle.
  • Check the Scan Guage manual, I think under x-gauges. My Scan Guage had to be programmed before it would read the tranny temps.
Can't remember how, but it now reads the temp.
  • Hi,

Quick note, If it is a Class A, then the chassis would be a F-53 chassis, with a 16,000 + GVWR, while the E-350 is only around 12,000 GVWR, so I sure hope that you have the class A chassis, not the van front class C chassis.

When I bought my new 1997 Bounder based on the F-53 with a 460" 4 speed, I was able to take out a pressure tap on the side of the transmission, and install the sensor that was in my class C motorhome. It works fine.

I never did plug in a scan gauge to the RV, except for the times that I got it smogged, and they plug in at the gas station to scan the engine.

    Good luck!

    Fred.
