2020 F-53 V-8 Specs

The New 2020 F-53 chassis V-8 will have 350 HP and 468 pounds of torque with a 6 speed trans

The 2006 to 2015 V10 Specs
The 6.8-liter TritonTM V-10 engine's best-in-class 362 horsepower and 457 foot-pounds of torque with a 5 speed trans.

Not much change in power other than it will have the 6 speed vs the 5 speed.

  • I will be sometime before "real world" fuel economy numbers come in, but I will bet that the V8 gets at least 10% (probably more) better fuel economy simply because there is less internal friction (fewer bearing journals, fewer piston rings, etc)

I'll lay money on the fact that the new 10 speed will be in the motorhome chassis by 2021MY !

Actually, reasonable to compare factory spec to factory spec.

Totally understand that factory spec for that generation V10 is not close to how I would program it!

Going off factory specs is not always accurate, from what I understand from another poster some time back that Ford did a re flash/new program on 2006 to 2015 F-53 chassis when they brought it in for work at a Ford dealer and it changed the shifting better and the poster stated it acts like the 5 Star Tuning, so even Ford has redone the factory specs.

So finding some specs on the old program wont be a fair compare with the new re flash/new program..

    Maybe, maybe not.

A quick look at the specs for the new V8 shows both peak torque and peak HP at 3,900.

Don't have RPM's for V10 at my finger tips but if at significantly higher RPM, I will take the "RPM I can sustain all day long" over specs at "screaming high RPM".

Anyone have specs with RPM for the 2006-2015 V10 engines?

With the 5 Star Tuning my max HP and Torque is at lower RPM's over the stock tune, I think its in the 3600 to 4000 rpm range.

The reason the V-10 scream in high RPM's was the 5 speed factory tune cause the trans to down shift to 2nd gear in the mountains, with the 5 Star Tuning it goes from 5th to 4th than 3rd and holds, no more screaming RPM's..
