245/70r19.5 tires

We all know that tires should be replaced every 6-7 years as they age out instead of wear out. I was just wondering, how many miles would a person with a 16000 pound class A constantly pulling a 5-6000 toad have to drive to actually wear out a load range G 245/70R19.5 tire. Any educated guesses out there?
  • On most motorhomes, the tread never wears out. The sidewalls are the main concern. I think that you can run them for 9 or 10 years with regular inspections, and if you cover them when parked. Also check the pressure b/4 every trip. Eddie Elk.
  • Sometimes it is worth checking used tires.
Truckers can put 300,000 miles on tires in 2 years and replace them with tread good for another 50,000
  • I've got about 50,000 miles on my Goodyear RV670 tires in that size. There is still another 10-20,000 miles on them, but they are 8 years old and one blew last fall. New tires on order.

If you put on 15K miles/year it would probably be worth buying Michelin as they should go 100K+ miles. Most other brands are in the 70-85K miles range which is double what most need before they age out.
  • Just thought I would update this. I had the Hankook tires put on and took it for a 20 mile test drive. It rides and handles as well as the Goodyear tires ever did and were much, much cheaper. Happy camper at this point.
  • Thinking about the size, I think this is what I had on my F450 dually, that quite often with forklift on it would exceed 20,000 lb.
I bought it with Hancocks and they lasted over 100k till one blew up (probably from the age) and I put cheap Sailung on. Those per my record lasted me for 61,000 miles

Thank you for this factual mileage report. I currently have Sailuns on our MH and really like them, of course I can only compare them to the wore out 8R19.5s that were on it when we purchased it. At 61,000 miles that would last me a good 8 years so it sounds like they will age and wear out at about the same time.
